Woodbridge International Launches Buenos Aires Office

January 15, 2016

Woodbridge International, a global mergers and acquisition firm focused on middle-market companies, is pleased to announce the opening of its Buenos Aires, Argentina office. The Argentina office is led by three accomplished investment bankers: Alan M. Glass, Eduardo S. Biocca and Ignacio de Alvear.

Buenos Aires is Woodbridge’s fourth location in South America. The firm opened its São Paulo, Brazil office in 2008, followed by Bogota, Colombia in 2013, and in 2014, Woodbridge established an office in Santiago, Chile.

Woodbridge welcomes Alan, Eduardo and Ignacio and looks forward to working with them to meet pent-up mergers and acquisitions demand in Argentina.

Woodbridge expects M&A activity in Argentina to rebound under the country’s new president, Mauricio Macri, who took office in December 2015. Mr. Macri is instituting a range of pro-business economic reforms which are expected to bring the country out of the malaise caused by the policies of the previous two administrations. According to a recent Barclays forecast, the Argentine economy will achieve 3.5% GDP growth in 2017 as a result of increased foreign investment.

Alan Glass has 25 years of experience as an investment banker and financial manager at several top-tier banks and corporations. At BankBoston, Alan led prominent debt restructurings in Argentina and conducted over 100 mergers and reorganizations as Financial Manager for Multicanal (Clarin Group). Previously, Alan served as Relationship Manager within the Corporate and Investment Banking units of Banco de Galicia and HSBC. He holds a degree in business administration from the University of Buenos Aires.

Eduardo Biocca has more than 20 years of experience in investment banking, commercial banking, corporate ratings and investment projects. He served as Director of Media and Communications Corporate Ratings at Standard & Poor's, Consultant for the Chairman at Edcadassa, Relationship Manager at BankBoston. Eduardo holds a degree in business administration from the University of Buenos Aires, a Master’s in Finance from CEMA University and completed the Portfolio Management program at the New York Institute of Finance.

Ignacio de Alvear has 20 years of corporate finance, investment banking and project management experience. He has worked on major corporate debt restructurings in Argentina and has served as chief of strategic analysis for the agribusiness unit at Standard Bank (formerly BankBoston). Earlier in his career, he was a Relationship Manager in the corporate and investment banking unit of BankBoston, covering different industries and serving major corporate clients. Ignacio holds a degree in business administration and finance and did post-graduate work at the Universidad Católica Argentina.
